Women participating in the early women’s movement would often break laws and get arrested in order to bring attention to women’s issues. For example, Susan Anthony was arrested for voting in the Election of 1872. She was tried, found guilty and fined $100.
Why do you think women, like Anthony, were willing to undergo arrest, trial and punishment just to vote? Would you be willing to do something like this to bring attention to an issue that concerns you?
