According to the theory of mercantilism, colonies exist solely for the economic benefit of the mother country. Under this policy, the 13 colonies could only trade with Great Britain.
Why would it be beneficial for Britain to permit the selling of colonial goods and crops in Britain only? Is this a win-win situation for both Britain and the colonies? Why or why not?
